On Thursday, I spent over $1,500 to have a garage door opener installed. After the installer left, I picked up over 25 small horseshoe type nails that were scattered throughout the garage floor. This is a beach house where both kids and adults are frequently in the garage bare footed. I hope I found all of them and don't end up with one of them being stuck in someone's foot. On Friday, when I went to open the garage door, it did not work. I called and was told that no one could come, unless I paid additional money to have them come on Sunday. I called again on Saturday and waited around for hours for a technician to arrive who changed the the door control. I specifically asked for the wire to be replaced from the garage opener to the door control since the wire that was being used is approximately 50 years old, has been spliced, and most likely is the problem. I was told that a new wire was not needed and that it was common practice not to put one in. One hour after the technician left, I tried to open the garage door and could not do so. Why two different technicians wouldn't take less than five minutes to run a $2 piece of wire after I paid over $1,500 is beyond me. I immediately called and was told that I could have someone come back right away, but it would cost me $199 to have that happen. If I could give 0 stars, I would do so. I have no idea how long it will take to get this resolved, but if I could get my money back, I would do so and find a more professional installer.
