I found Precision on Angie's List. Made an appointment for the next day. They came determined my 18 year old garage door opener and the springs had finally died. They were able to install an opener and the springs on the spot (so I didn't have to reschedule another appointment). $500. for a garage door spring seems like a lot of money. $49 service call was a bit of a scam since it didn't cover any kind of inspection.For about a 5 minute job of opening the garage door I was already looking at a $125 fee so I felt like I really had no choice.I would not use Precision Garage door again.In fairness I must say the garage door works fine. This is a very well run company and the technicians are very professional. Russ, the technician, called me 2 hours before the appointment so I had sufficient time to make sure I was home when he arrived. He quickly assessed the situation, asked me how often we opened & closed the garage door each day, and installed springs that would take that frequency of usage. When he was done, I was amazed at how perfectly he had balanced the door (you should be able to manually lift the door easily when the motor's drive screw is disengaged) and I was also amazed by how quietly the garage door opens and closes now. It's even quieter than when it was newly installed 9 years ago! I'd recommend these guys to anyone.
